yeah okay I'm like 6 days late on submitting this but..
Yeah let's just say I've improved quite a bit.
Lemme give a basic rundown of it all:

January: Kinda knew how to draw chibis. I couldn't draw much but for a moment I could draw chibis pretty well. I aspired to draw humans, so I practiced with chibi anthros. Eh.
Had no clue about opacity lock/clipping layers

February: Wanted to get better at drawing dogs and furry things, since they were the main thing I drew, I figured I ought to get somewhat good at them. My anatomy was pretty bad, but was decent in this pic.
Still didn't use clipping layers.

March: This piece of art dear lord. I look at it in it's full glory and cringe when I pass by it in my gallery.
I had the brush on a certain brush tip and it made my lines horribly jagged, and I did NOT understand fur and the way it flowed. Anatomy wasn't very good either. Yuck.
I did figure out how to use textures, so something turned out good from that month.
Still lack of clipping layers~

April: This piece I was pretty proud of because I didn't need to use refs of dog legs and whatnot just to draw them. Anatomy still wasn't fantastic but there was a noticeable improvement. Got cozy with brush textures.
Clipping layers were still something I had no clue of.

May: First serious attempt at lineless art. I was really proud of it when I finished it, and I still am now, considering I hadn't the slightest clue of CLIPPING LAYERS.
I learned more about shading during this time. Highlighting hair, shading in general, imagining a light source.

June: GUESS WHO LEARNED ABOUT CLIPPING LAYERS UH-HYUK-HYUK!
I learned my own way to draw eyes, and guess what else I learned! Not just clipping layers, but LAYER BLEND OPTIONS! I learned all about multiply, screen, overlay, all that junk! [thank you :iconbrighttalon27: for giving me that quick lesson!]

July: I ventured into the world of pixel, and got consumed. Yeah, maybe it wasn't the best pixel art, but it was a START! I even got an animating program for them.
Though, before I knew it I was a pixeling monster. Friends would look at me in horror as I turned my head and hissed at the brightness of an open door, my eyes red from staring at the screen all day, pixeling.

August: Kind of an `eh` month. I just did regular art, didn't learn anything new.
Though, I did create my first lineless piece USING clipping layers [which is the art in the frame]. That was pretty vital, since I there after learned that clipping layers were kind of THE MOST AMAZING THING IN THE DIGITAL ART UNIVERSE.

September: My ponies improved so much. I mean, throughout the year I drew them, but man did I improve quickly. Remember this? Don't worry, I cringe too.
I learned in September the absolute WONDERFULNESS of the marker tool, a tool I had never before dared to touch in the program of Paint Tool Sai. I now use it for shading, highlights, and wiping my rear.

October: THIS IS PROBABLY THE BEST HUMANOID THING I'VE DRAWN AND EVER WILL DRAW.
With the help of :iconcoalcloud: and :iconprinceyui: I KIND OF UNDERSTOOD WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON WITH HUMAN BODIES.
I was so happy with this AND FOR THE RECORD STILL AM. I learned how to boobs, hands, face, torso, all that. I mean maybe I'm not that good at any of it BUT I LEARNED AND THAT'S WHAT MATTERS.

November: November was actually a bridge between my learning. I had so many thoughts I wanted to get out, though I lacked the skills to make anything nice.
I was also feeling a little empty during November, thus the piece in the frame was created. For not drawing humans, I can still say I'm really proud of it.
I sort of began to grasp the concept of speed painting, and how you don't need lots of detail to create the feel of it.

December: NEW ART STYLE AHOOOOOYYYYYY!
I actually had THREE arts I wanted to display, but I picked the one that had a new style I never did previously in the year.
Through the wonderful work of reading tutorials, I learned how to draw in a lineless toony style on Adobe Flash CS3!
For a brief period of time I only did art that way, though now I'm going back in between styles again, pixeling here and there, toony art, lineless, humans, you know.

Overall, I feel like I improved greatly in 2013, and I can only hope I still have the same aspirations I have now throughout the year. My goal is to get good enough at humans that I can have my own art style for drawing them, though perhaps I won't master it til another year after this one. Lots of work ahead of me!
